Columbus College of Art & Design

Founded in 1879 and located in Columbus, Ohio, this small college of art and design, with 1,350 students, is one of the oldest and largest private art and design colleges in the United States. The campus, recently renovated, consists of 14 buildings (including 2 residence halls) on 9 acres, and is adjacent to the Columbus Museum of Art and Columbus State Community College.

BFA in Fashion Design

The 4-year studies, for a BFA in Fashion Design, reflect the global nature of the fashion industry and the combined knowledge of the artistic and the business aspect of it. You’ll learn hands-on skills in design and construction, including the high-end software used to design and render apparel for today’s global market, complemented by the creation of prints and patterns in their professionally outfitted surface design lab.

CCAD Internships

Internships are an important part of the program—and with industry giants like Abercrombie & Fitch, Justice, and Victoria’s Secret headquartered in central Ohio, you’ll have lots of options. Your career options are that of an accessory designer, boutique owner, buyer, costume designer, fashion designer, fashion forecaster, fiber/textile designer, merchandiser, patternmaker, public relations professional, stylist, technical designer and many more.

Job Opportunities

Previously, graduates and undergraduates have been hired, as employers or interns, by renowned brands and designers such as Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor Loft, Converse, Docker’s, Fossil, GAP, Haggar, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, LaSenza, Nautica, Pepe Jeans of London, Polo Ralph Lauren, Target, Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret and others.

CCAD is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD), the Higher Learning Commission, Member of the North Central Association, and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Alumni include Bruno Grizzo, fashion designer and illustrator who won 2 Gen Art fashion awards. The 6-year graduation rate is 59% and the acceptance rate is 87%. Also, 91% of students receive financial aid.
