LIM College
LIM College is a private, for-profit, specialized coeducational undergraduate and graduate educational institution focused on the business aspects of the fashion industry. It is located in Midtown Manhattan and it is focused on the business aspects of the fashion industry. It was founded in 1939 by Maxwell F. Marcuse as the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising after requests from retailers to create a school that would teach students about fashion business and merchandising.
LIM College grants undergraduate degrees in Fashion Merchandising, Management, Marketing and Visual Merchandising. Many students also add a concentration in areas ranging from Fashion Communications to Event Planning to Styling.
The school also offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with concentrations in Fashion Management and Entrepreneurship and Master of Professional Studies degrees in Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management and Fashion Marketing.
It has also recently received approval to offer the nation’s first master’s degree program in Visual Merchandising, which will launch in the fall of 2014.
New York Fashion Week
Students explore hands-on learning opportunities outside the classroom and volunteer at various fashion events such as the New York Fashion Week. There are about 1,600 students enrolled at LIM College, 1,300 of whom are undergraduates and acceptance rate is around 70%. The college also offers high school and college students a sneak peek into life as a fashion student through the Fashion Lab course program.
LIM College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and its BBA, BPS, associate, and MBA degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
