This public university, founded in 1910, has 17,000 students and a 1,338-acre main academic and residential campus located in Bowling Green, Ohio. There are several unique buildings, such as the music building, which looks like a baby grand piano and the recreation center, which resembles the school’s falcon mascot, from above.

Today it offers over 200 undergraduate programs including Apparel Merchandising and Product Development that focuses on preparing future professionals for exciting, challenging and fast-paced careers in the fashion industry.

This four-year program teaches students fashion forecasting, apparel buying and merchandising, textile product analysis, product development, 20th century fashion, and global issues in apparel and textiles. It’s a BS that gives you career options such as merchandising, product development, retail management, marketing, and fashion forecasting.

These studies focus on modern merchandising concepts. To graduate, students must select and complete one of two options: the marketing minor, or one year of study at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Students who apply and are accepted at F.I.T. select one of two programs of study; Advertising and Marketing Communications or Textile Development and Marketing.

There are approximately 270 students enrolled in the AMPD program while about 65 students enter each year. Study abroad opportunities that offer exposure to the global nature of the industry, are available in cities such as London, Florence, and Paris. You can also participate in a co-op program to gain experience, working with buyers, store managers, or product developers in various cities such as Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Cincinnati, Chicago, New York City, and London.

For the 2011–12 academic year, the university was ranked 177th by U.S. News & World Report’s National University Rankings of America’s Best Colleges 2012, 162nd by The Washington Monthly’s rankings of, and 481st by Forbes rankings of America’s Top Colleges. Approximately 60% of BGSU students receive financial aid and 61% graduate in maximum 6 years. The acceptance rate is 74%.
