It’s a relatively small nationally ranked, private college, founded in 1856 and located in Northeast Reading, Pennsylvania. It has about 1,700 undergraduates in traditional programs, another 800 adult students in accelerated degree programs, and 100 students in the master’s program in education.
Students at the department of Fashion can follow career paths in Design & Merchandising, Costume Design, Fashion Design and Merchandising getting accredited BA degrees. There is a focus on humanities, critical thinking and communication over technical, pre-professional fields of study.
The program is placed within a liberal arts college which means that individualized education is promoted. The courses offer the knowledge and credentials for a successful contribution to the fashion industry, especially in Costume Design; whose curriculum has been recently revised to better prepare students for their professional duties.
As a student you are required to complete an internship in your senior year. These internships vary by location and type of business, with opportunities all over the United States and abroad, in fields such as retail buying, public relations, marketing, and retail visual merchandising.

The impressive list of internships already offered to students includes renowned companies such as Anna Sui, Anthropologie, Eileen Fisher, Donna Karan, Disney World, Gucci, Isaac Mizrahi, Marie Claire, Michael Kors, Nordstrom, Cherry Hill, QVC, Tiffany & Co., in New York and other cities, nationwide and globally.
The acceptance rate at this college is 47% and is ranking at 491th out of 650 Colleges according to the 2013 list of Forbes. It has a great financial aid package, with 99% of students being partially supported throughout their studies. It has also a considerably good graduation rate with 62% of the students graduating maximum after 6 years.
